As a part of Google’s tenth birthday celebrations they have published their oldest archived index including the cached pages from this time. The archive is from 2001 so they’ve appropriately named this “Search 2001“.
I looked up a couple of sites I’ve worked on since and was supprised to see in 2001 they were using flashing “NEW” animated GIF’s (as seen in the 90′s), others were static width’s designed for 640×480, or smaller!?
